Disney California Adventure introduced a whole new Halloween layover this season that made DCA a must-see Disney park destination. I had the best time checking out all of the new photo opps and trying the special edition snacks and drinks. Below is a recap of my adventures through Disney California Adventures' HAUL-O-WEEN!
I feel like we’ve hit the jackpot with the food at Disney California Adventure. The food is spectacular and I regularly crave more than one item there. Again, there is still SO much I haven’t gotten to eat but what I have eaten is to die for. (updated 07/06/18)
I remember the first time I found out about Dapper Day. It was 2 years ago and I was at the park on a random Sunday. I kept seeing people dressed up and couldn’t stop wondering about it. Since then, I’ve unknowingly found myself at Disneyland on Dapper Day twice and each time have been increasingly impressed by the creativity and just how GOOD everyone looks.
If you’re like me, then you’ve been curious about it too. I've just been too nervous to try it for myself - but not anymore! I am officially a Dapper Day convert, and because the experience was so wonderful I wanted to share a little bit about it here with all of you!
I have loved the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival these last two years. It’s such a wonderful time to try some of the most delicious culinary experiments! While last year’s offerings were generally underwhelming to me, this year’s were OFF THE CHARTS!
Before I give you a quick rundown of my absolute favorite items, I wanted to do a quick plug for the Annual Passholder Food & Wine Fest “Sip and Savor” Pass. Basically for $45 you get a lanyard with 8 tabs that are redeemable at any of the booths participating in the Food & Wine Festival. This is a great deal if you’re going to be trying premium food items which usually come in around $7-8 per item. That's a cost savings of about $2 per order on select food items! (Heck, I'll take every cost-savings I can while I'm at Disneyland. :P) Unfortunately you cannot redeem your Sip and Savor tabs for alcoholic beverages but you can use them for non-alcoholic ones. You can purchase your Sip and Savor pass over by the AP Corner in Paradise Pier.
Now, on to my top picks from this year’s festival!
Ah, April 1st, the start of Disneyland’s most treasured scavenger hunt, the EGG-STRAVAGANZA. Last year was my first year participating and it was a ridiculous amount of fun. For those who haven’t done this yet, I thought I'd give you a little rundown of what to expect.
First there are three Egg-stravaganza maps that you can purchase this year: one for Disneyland, one for California Adventure, and one for Downtown Disney. Each one can be purchased in that area of Disney. For Disneyland you can get your map inside of the Disneyland Emporium, Cali Adventure inside Elias & Co, and for Downtown Disney inside World of Disney. They sell them at the cash registers and they are $5.99 per map. Each map comes with a sleeve of stickers.
The idea is that you walk around the parks and try to find hidden Easter eggs in various locations. When you find the egg, you match that sticker from the sleeve with the open egg location on your map. Once you’ve found all the hidden eggs and filled out your map, you can redeem a prize at designated prizing areas around the parks. The prize is a collectible plastic Disney-themed Easter egg.
Below are the collectible eggs you can earn from this year's scavenger hunt:
